Temporary accommodation
Temporary accommodation is housing provided to individuals or households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, while a more permanent solution is being arranged. For this questionnaire ‘temporary accommodation’ refers to long-term leased units ordinarily of a self-contained nature which are usually fully furnished.
Emergency accommodation
Emergency accommodation is another form of housing provided to individuals or households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, while a more permanent solution is being arranged. These are ordinarily non-self-contained accommodation where an individual or household may share some facilities such as kitchen and/or washing/toilet facilities. Usually establishments such as B and B (bed and breakfast), hotel, house in multiple occupation (HMO) and so on.
House in multiple occupation (HMO)
A property is considered an HMO if it meets any of the following: It is occupied by three or more people who are not from the same household and/or these occupants share basic amenities, such as a kitchen, bathroom, or toilet. The property may be a house or flat.
Short-term supported accommodation
Supported housing is where people live in designated properties under licence conditions or as a contract-holder but also get some support to live there. Supported housing can be living in a flat by yourself, living in a shared house, or living in a network of flats such as a hostel or refuge where everyone gets support. The accommodation is not permanent. It provides short-term housing while individuals or families are supported to find and move into long-term settled housing.
Early prevention
Early prevention in housing support means taking action at the earliest stage to prevent housing problems from escalating into homelessness or crisis. It focuses on early identification of risks, offering timely advice, and providing practical help so that people can stay securely housed.
Floating support
Floating support is a form of flexible housing-related support for persons over the age of 16 to access, maintain and manage their own accommodation. It can be delivered across all housing tenures and therefore can be received if you live in accommodation owned by Isle of Anglesey County Council or housing association, or if you rent from a private landlord or if you are a homeowner and require support to live as independently as possible in any of these types of properties. It can also be delivered whilst an individual or household has been placed in temporary or emergency accommodation and is homeless or at risk of homelessness, to support while a more permanent solution is being explored.
